Introduction:

On 8 April 2017, OAS is organising a hiking activity to Fan Lau. Fan Lau is located at the most south-western part of Lantau Island, with many unique and spectacular natural views and historical sites that can only be found at Fan Lau, such as Fan Lau’s stretching and scenic coastline, Fan Lau Beach and Fan Lau Fort. So come and join us to explore this stunning part of Lantau Island.

Activity details:

Date: 8 April 2017 (Saturday-Sunday)

Target: All CUHK students and staff members, and all OAS members

Route: Fan Lau (Lantau Trail Section 7,8 and Fan Lau Country Trail)

Path length: around 16 km

Difficulty: ★★★★☆（★ as easiest，★★★★★ as most challenging）

Assembly time : 09:00

Assembly venue: Tung Chung MTR Station Exit B (Participants could identify the committee members by blue T-shirt outfit) 

Dismissal time: 16:45,

Dismissal venue: Tai O Bus Terminus

Quota: 20 persons (First-come-first-served)

Fee: $0 for members, $20 for non-members

   (In addition, all applicants are required to pay $ 50 deposit, the deposit will be returned before the dismissal.)

Participant Equipment List:

COMPULSORY equipment

• At least 2.5L of drinking water

• Packed lunch and supplementary food (e.g. chocolate)

• Octopus card (with at least $100 stored value)

• Mobile phone

• Backpack

SUGGESTED Equipment

• Some cash

• Insect repellent

• Sun Cream

• Some personal medicine

• A few adhesive bandages and alcohol swabs

• Mountaineering stick (can be borrowed from OAS)

• Towel and handkerchief

• Raincoat

• **Whistle (used for signaling in an emergency)

**A whistle can be bought from OAS for $5 each.

• Wear sports trousers or other loose-fit trousers (Wearing jeans is highly discouraged)

*Participants are not allowed to wear slippers, or else they would not be allowed to join the team.

Important notes:

1.Persons below the age of 18 should request for the signed consent of their parent(s) or guardian(s) before participating in this activity.

2.Persons with long-term diseases (such as asthma or heart disease) are not advised to participate in this activity. Should they wish to participate, they should first seek the professional advice of a doctor first.

3.Deposit will be refunded if the activity is cancelled due to bad weather.

4.If participant is not able to participate the activity due to health problem, deposit will be fully refunded if participant shows out doctor’s proof.

5.Any participant who applies for activity successfully requires to quit or absent in the activity will not be refunded deposit.

6.If participant feels unpleasant before the activity starts, should inform person in charge before assembly time.
